Yunqi Richard Li is a Beijing-raised, LA-based filmmaker.

Shaped by a deeply bicultural upbringing, he is particularly drawn to such themes as collective memory, cultural identity, and selfhood over time. An alumnus of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, he strives to tell intimate, innovative, and introspective stories. Over the years, his short films have been selected at Oscar-qualifying festivals, and he continues to collaborate on commercial work for companies like Netflix and Toyota.

He is deeply inspired by the works of Richard Linklater, Damien Chazelle, and Jiang Wen.

He was also once a ping pong champion, and he hopes to reach the prowess of that 11-year-old boy just once more.
